Abstract
The development of digital technology has led to the creation of various learning options in the field of science education. Technologies such as game-based learning have been used in several scientific fields and have revealed various benefits regarding its use. However, little research has been conducted to understand how game-based learning enhances student learning in scientific contexts. On this basis, the focus of the present study has been on the use of game-based learning in the literature of science education, through the review of research indexed in several international scientific databases. In this study, a total of 31 researches conducted between the years 2015 and 2021 were examined and it provides valuable data about the techniques of increasing students' skills in science education. Although most past works have supported the positive results and potential of game-based learning to meet the educational requirements of science about learning, social, cognitive, and psychological abilities and skills, however, the results indicate that game-based learning is more for strengthening Students' learning skills are used. In addition, this study has highlighted the gaps and defects in the literature of this field.
